Music Monday is a meme that was created by Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek. You pick a song and/or video and share it on Monday.
This Music Monday thing is totally up my alley, considering I’m quite the music addict, and usually have a song in mind. Just in case, to save my sanity in everyday life. You know, while working, interacting with people, etc. Thankfully, today I’m off work. Easter Monday is a national day off in Hungary, as well as Good Friday. Yep. You can envy me and all. So my song today is:
Lyrics:
Every time you stand up, ready for your close-up,
I keep wondering how it’s all supposed to be
This is gonna blow up, storming in a teacup,
I’ll keep swimming steadily against the stream
And you don’t even heed me, treat me as an enemy,
See me as a failure and see me as dumb
You don’t even need me to keep it all in harmony,
I am disappointment and I am no fun
How could this be misunderstood?
No-one will tell you why they smile as they berate you
They keep saying it’s gonna be fine
No-one will help you as they constantly sedate you
They keep killing the grape on the vine
Singing your own praises constantly amazes,
I don’t wanna hear the words you’re saying to me
How can I rephrase this? You’re all rats in mazes,
Constantly you’re fighting over scraps of the cheese
Observing all your weakness, puddles have more deepness,
Empty vessels clamouring across the sea
Revel in your genius, eating clean and meatless, I’ll be in the corner with my dignity
How could this be misunderstood?
No-one will tell you why they smile as they berate you
They keep saying it’s gonna be fine
No-one will help you as they constantly sedate you
They keep killing the grape on the vine
No-one will tell you why they smile as they berate you
They keep saying it’s gonna be fine
No-one will help you as they constantly sedate you
They keep killing the grape on the vine
They keep saying it’s gonna be fine
They keep killing the grape on the vine
Misunderstood is from Seether latest album, Poison The Parish released last year. I fell in love with this one for the first time I heard. My favorite part is the second verse, it’s hilarious. But I can relate to the whole song. Having self confidence and other issues, I sure felt like I was degraded more than once in my life. Feeling out of the place, looking at the world bewildered is no stranger for me either. I mean, we really do live in a strange world, where altough everyone tries to prove how unique/original/awesome/one-of-a-kind they are, they don’t realise that they just get lost in the crowd of “unique” individuals without a single original thought or personality or style or whatever. And these are the same people who look down on those who actually are different from them, because they don’t give a damn about what others think of them. Or because life dealt them different cards altogether. And God forbid that someone would think differently and choose a different path to walk on, or have struggles others can’t even start to comprehend. Meh. Rambling is over now people, walk along, there is nothing to see here.
Seether had been one of my favorite bands for a while now, and I’ve got to see them last year. It was a great year, Breaking Benjamin and Seether a few months apart. A dream came true. Or several, to be more precise. I also got to meet the band, having a photo with them:
They were all really kind and tired as hell. Dale (the guitarist) gave me two picks (one during the show which he threw in the audience and one after that giving it directly to me). I’m planning to make a pair of earrings of them. I just have to ask my dad to drill a small hole in them… Okay, that’s it for now, check out their songs if you can, because they are an awesome band! 🙂
Cool song. I used to listen to Seether loads years ago, probably around the time Broken and Disclaimer came out. Still a great band to this day. 🙂
Sure they are. I loved their show. Though it was strange that Shaun didn’t even communicate with the audience. He played, sang and thanked at the end and that was it. I won’t complain though, got to see them from the first line 🙂
I think this article got it wrong in a sense. I don’t think it’s about the world per say but I think he’s really talking about the mainstream narrative, they think they are better than average people and because Shaun Morgan doesn’t necessarily want to be famous just make music for therapy and make the money to support his family and he doesn’t act like he’s better than average people they disown him and hate him and say his music sucks (I’ve watched interviews where he has actually stated this and how it makes him feel) but they are all just self absorbed fighting over the spotlight their pathetic idiots with no self respect or dignity these people live to take orders in their make believe land. Idk if anyone else could see it that way but i feel like this song is directed at the mainstream industries.
