  • 3 Years in SPFBO

    3 Years in SPFBO

SPFBO 7 started off on June 1st and as many of you know, the Asylum is not a judging blog anymore. But not all of us stepped back from the competition. In this post I'd like to talk about why I made the decision of stepping back, how SPFBO affected my (blogging) life, and highlight all the gems I got to find thanks to the competition. It will be a long post, so buckle up. I'll try to keep the rambling to a minimum, but no promises...

    Advent Book Calendar

This year I'm going to host an Advent Book Calendar event, where Jen and me are going to pick one book every day until December 24th. Books we've read this year, and tell you why you should pick it up. You can check our progress in the Advent Book Calendar 2018 introduction post, where you can "open" the windows every day and find out what we have for your reading pleasure!

    Monthly Wrap Up

September came and went, and we are one month closer to the end of the year. September started off on a really bad note for me, but thankfully things got considerably better in a few days and overall the month was a blast. Aside from personal stuff, I've read quite a few books, hosted a giveaway in celebration of my 6 monthsversary as a blogger and tried to avoid thinking about October. Yay!

This year I'm taking part in SPFBO as an advisor for Fantasy Book Review's judging team. I decided to offer a spot to the authors in our group. The spotlight today shines on A.Z. Anthony.

  • Servant of Rage by A.Z. Anthony

Servant of Rage by A.Z. Anthony

Servant of Rage is a blood soaked, intriguing first book of a trilogy. It's a bit rough around the edges, but Anthony clearly is a talented writer, who can pull out writing terror filled scenes as well as emotional ones. Servant of Rages manages to give in some punches and leaves enough questions open to make people come back and read what happens next. Overall, I would recommend to check it out if you didn't do so yet.

The Queen has captured you sneaking around in her home, but she is in a merciful mood. She has allowed you to go free on the condition that you brave the ancient ruins and find her missing cloak clasp. It is in the shape of her most beloved animal. She no longer likes to go there, because she is convinced that there are magical goings-on in the ruins that are not of this world.
