About the Book
Moon Rising by Daniel Weisbeck

She is not who she thinks she is. Her true identity is a mystery.

Trapped in a cellar by a man she does not know; a young girl is forced to act out the life of someone she has never met to stay alive. When she escapes, she finds herself on the run, confused and questioning her past. With the help of Bobby Houndstooth, a teacher she once knew, and Nutt, an android who loves to dance, Silon begins to unravel her true identity and a mysterious relationship she has with a sinister corporation.

Silon must decide if she is the person others expect her to be or if she can become a person of her own making.

Even if it kills her.

The Playlist
Iggy Pop – The Passenger

This is the song Nutt played for Silon while they were walking through the city and remembering those they had lost. The song Silon sings at the end.

Daft Punk – Human After All

Once you read Moon Rising you’ll understand why this song. Spoiler alert.

Blondie – Atomic and Heart of Glass, and, well, everything she has every sung

Because Blondie is the beating heart of everything neon and pre, post, and future punk. My style guide for Moon Rising.

The Cure – Boys Don’t Cry

Because it talks about mistakes and not being able to face up to them even when you want to. And I always cycle through the Cure at some point when writing.

Bette Midler – The Rose

Because it make me want to cry-sing and feel things deeply every time I hear it . I listen to this when I am writing something with heart. This is Silon’s heart.
