A Week in My Head: Entry 7

A Week in My Head is some kind of journal of all the things that went on in my head the past week. Be it succes, struggle or just some random ramblings. I know it doesn’t replace professional counselling, but this is my kind of therapy – talking it out of myself in this way. Join me if you want and feel free to share your experiences. I’m sure we can learn from each other and A Week in My Head will be a less lonely time.

Decisions. That one word pretty much sums up my past week. It wasn’t a productive one reading wise, but man I had to make several decisions. I. Fucking. Hate. Decisions. It probably doesn’t help that I’m prone to overthink EVERYTHING. In the end I always go after my gut feeling, but it takes a lot of agonising to get there. Also, annoying the hell out of my friends, because I keep asking them what they think, if which option is the better, I make pro and con lists, and keep looking at things from all the angles, because WHAT IF? I’m hardly 100% sure in my decisions, but at the other hand, I’m hardly wrong either. Apparently, driving myself and at least one other person crazy is important part of the process. For example: at one point I spent half a day trying to decide in which order I want to organise one of my blog posts. Which I mostly spent whining about it, until eventually I made up my mind. Geez.

At least in some cases I had help this week as I didn’t have ALL the responsibility to bear. Still, the way to get to make a decision can be draining and frustrating and this past week I kept asking myself: Why the hell am I doing this to myself ALL the time?!

A Side Project

I can’t talk about this much yet as we (a friend and I) are in the middle of putting things together and thus we don’t have an official announcement yet. We are in the beginning stage as of yet, but this past week we had to make several decisions regarding branding.  Some decisions went surprisingly quick and easy, others… not so much. Both of us being perfectionists and the fact that we had limited options didn’t bode well. In the end, so far we are really happy with our decisions and absolutely can’t wait to share the results with the world. Also can’t wait to start the real work, because apparently we both don’t need free time, lol. On the bright side, I have my new motto: Off with their head!

Blog Design / Moving

I’ve talked a bit about this before – that I’m planning to give the blog a complete makeover and move it to another server. This was all orchestrated to get done before the 2nd anniversary. But as it turns out, when it comes to me, things are never going easy. When we were testing the moving we ran into some problems which is going to take time to get solved. Besides, the theme I picked wasn’t really up to my expectations and I might have to get the pro version which is an expense I wasn’t counting on at the moment. So, at the end of the week, I decided to wait with the moving and theme change to give ourselves some time to figure the problem out and also to myself to either find a theme that I love or make this one work as it should. So, for now the makeover won’t be complete, but it’s going to happen later this year.

On the other hand, the process of getting the new feature images is almost at the end. I saw some previews and they are going to look awesome and the logo will get a bit of makeover too ๐Ÿ˜‰ I also decided to add a bit of extra something and was working on redoing my rating system, complete with a bit of design too. It’s going to be awesome! And can’t wait to get it out there soooon.

Writing

In the past couple of weeks I’ve been trying to settle on one WIP. I need to finish at least one this year, and some scenes and story ideas were pin-balling around in my head, but nothing wanted to get together into a story. Last night (around 3 am…) some things finally clicked. I still don’t see the whole picture yet, but I finally have at least a solid idea and I’m excited to see where it will take me. I think somewhere deep down I knew from the start that I’ll pick the one idea for which I want to use Hungarian folklore as inspiration and my brain at last decided to do me a favour and settle on that one already. I can’t wait to figure some of the plot out! Yes, I’m excited about a lot of things lately. Shut up.

Boots

Okay, here me out. Last year I had to say goodbye to my spring/fall boots I loved, because it was falling apart. So now, I don’t have anything to wear in the coming warmer season, so I’m back to despairing. Once I’m over this I can start over with summer shoes in a few months… Buying shoes is a torture for someone like me. 1) Women sized shoes don’t fit me. 2) Most kids shoes are pink, glittering, has flower pattern and are flat. I hate flats. Or the colour pink. Or flowers. 3) The only place where I have a chance to find boots fitting to my style AND having heels is Ebay. Which sucks, because shipping from the US costs more than the shoes themselves. But what can you do when you are 32, has a specific taste and the size of a child?

But I already accepted all this, as it has been my life. I could make this easy for myself and buy exactly the same boots I had. But of course the easy is not my way and I made the mistake of looking at other boots too, and now I have to choose between 2 *facepalm* At one hand there is one I know and wore for years and loved, but on the other, there is another one which is just SO ME.

The old one, which I think is taller and more fitting.  (I never wore it folded down)
The other one. LOOK AT THE STUDS!

This is the only decision that I didn’t make yet and it really drives me crazy. I guess I’ll have to leave something for the new week as well *sigh*
