A Week in My Head

A Week in My Head: Entry 9

A Week in My Head is some kind of journal of all the things that went on in my head the past week. Be it succes, struggle or just some random ramblings. I know it doesn’t replace professional counselling, but this is my kind of therapy – talking it out of myself in this way. Join me if you want and feel free to share your experiences. I’m sure we can learn from each other and A Week in My Head will be a less lonely time.

In case you missed any of the previous entries, you can find them on the A Week in My Head page!

Hey everyone, I hope you guys are doing well! Sorry for yet another radio silence on this feature, but things have been busy. First, I was working on the 2nd Anniversary Post, which was a monster of a post. And then last week I had a bad mental health week and the last thing I wanted to do was whine on my own blog as well. I mean, more than I usually do anyway. And yes, I know that the main reason I started this series was so I could write my thoughts and feelings out, but I kinda hit rock bottom and the only thing I wanted was get away from people and social media for a few days. The fact that I basically didn’t have an internet connection helped things. I occasionally have these periods when my self-esteem is non-existent and lonliness hits me hard and I feel like there is no one I can hit up to chat with and that’s when I know I have to distance myself from everything.

But you are not here to read yet another depressing piece of article – we have enough of those going around these days. And frankly, as I already feel better, I’m tired of my own whining, so I’ll save all of us from that. Today I’ll try and focus on things that did bring me joy in one way or another this past week.

Storytellers On Tour

I know I mentioned this at passing and I meant to write a blog post about it too, but I still haven’t got around to it, so here is my chance. The story of Storytellers On Tour started back in February I think. One day Justine said on Discord to our group that she’d like to organise blog tours for SFF indie books. I said it was a good idea, she asked if I wanted to join her. Hell yes, I did. We did a bit of Twitter poll too see if there was any interest. Within a couple of weeks we had a name – Storytellers On Tour – and a logo. Something that mixed both of our styles. We agreed the “On Tour” part fairly quickly, which I loved, because it gave that feeling like a band on tour and we know I’m a music addict. We settled on Storytellers which sounds like a cool band and also it indicates that we are going to work with authors and well, storytellers. Calling our group of awesome bloggers who joined our team Roadies (you can too by signing up here) was the natural step. I mean, IT WAS SO BLOODY OBVIOUS! Also, I’m really proud of that one, lol.

Once we had everything settled and our first tour booked, things speed up. Actually, we got where we are pretty fast all things considered. We dived in head first and spent a lot of energy and hours chatting about strategies, ideas, etc. I think we both were/are at a place in our lives, when we needed something we could lose ourselves in. It’s something we are both dedicated to – keeping up a blog is awesome, but it sometimes can become daunting, especially if you have a lot of obligations reading-wise. Storytellers is something we both believe in and would like to make it work. We love books, we love indie SFF authors and we know how hard it is to get attention, so we would like to help to reach as many people as we can. This past week we’ve received a lot of love from our Rodies who are really excited to take part in our tours coming in April. That definitely put a smile on my face 🙂

We Bare Bears

It’s probably not much of a secret by now that I LOVE pandas. I use a lot of panda themed gifs and I’ve been seeing a lot from this animation series, We Bare Bears. I knew about the existence of it, but I never saw any episodes. So, this week I finally, finally took a look. I only could find season 2 and 3 in Hungarian, but OMG! This is absolutely the content I needed in my life right now. It’s hilarious, and each episode is about 10 minutes long, so it’s not like it takes a lot of time out of your life. I definitely recommend checking it out. I’m pretty sure it’ll become my comfort watch.

The Lost God

This past couple of days the plot for my new WIP started to come together. I still don’t have much, but at least now I have some good ideas and 1.1K written out of max 20K. This novelette will be inspired by Hungarian mythology. I’m thinking about reaching out to my old university professor for some help to point me to some researchers or books that might help me get some knowledge about things we otherwise don’t know much about. Thanks Christianity. And though I don’t have names or any idea of most things, really, I already have a working title of The Lost God. It’s getting real, peeps, and I’m super excited to get this one done. Now I just need to stick to my plan and someone to keep kicking my ass and I’ll be fine.

I hope you could find something to at least smile about this past week. I know it’s hard for everyone for different reasons, but it’s important to still find the little things. Always the little things.
